The performance and engine options in these two trucks will be a key difference and an important thing to note. You will want to think about the type of towing and hauling you are doing on a regular basis and determine which of these trucks can give you the ideal type of performance you are looking for.

The Ram 1500 offers you a few different V6 and V8 engine options. Check them out right here:

  • A 3.6-liter V6 engine that gives you 305-horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque can be found on many base models.
  • Another engine is the 5.7-liter V8 engine that can produce 395-horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. This can be equipped with an eTorque mild hybrid system to increase the torque further.
  • You also have a 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine option. This diesel option can give you 260-horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque.
  • Finally, you can find a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that can give you 702-horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque.

All of these engine options are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. In terms of towing and hauling, this truck can tow up to almost 13,000 pounds when it is properly equipped. The payload capacity of the Ram 1500 can get above 2,000 pounds, depending on the model.

The Ram 2500 truck is a more heavy-duty option and can step it up when it comes to power and capability. This truck has two different engine options for you.

  • The first engine option in the Ram 2500 is a 6.4-liter V8 engine. This engine offers you 410-horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque, and it is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
