The Dam was built in 1836 and then rebuilt in 1921 to generate electricity. In 1989, the fish ladder was successfully built. It’s comprised f 54 pools, with each one a foot higher than the preceding one. These pools act like steps, letting the fish “climb” to the top of the falls and bypass the hydro station.

The Capital Center For The Arts in Concord is a terrific venue. It’s an intimate venue and there isn’t a bad seat in the house. The Capitol Theatre opened in 1927 and was a prime stop on the old Vaudeville circuit. It also served as a premier moviehouse and concert hall, until it slipped into disrepair and was closed in 1989.
In 1995, it was renovated with $4.2 million and more than 3,000 hours of work to paint and restore the Egyptian-motif artwork. It has 1,304 seats and can present concerts, comedy and even lavish Broadway shows.
