Everett Arena is A Tim’s Truck Capital Favorite
Just down the road in Concord is the Concord Ice Skating Arena, one of our favorite ice skating venues here at Tim’s Truck Capital and Auto Sales in Epsom NH.The indoor ice skating rink was built in 1965 and is now owned and operated by the General Services Department of the City of Concord.It provides year round activities, but we especially love to ice skate here between September and mid March.They offer public ice skating, Concord Youth Hockey, adult hockey, stick practice and hockey games, to name a few of the activities.The rest of the year the venue is used for dry floor events.
Public ice skating hours are Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. and Sunday from 5:30-7:30 p.m.Admission is only $5 and skate rentals are $5 as well.
Adult Stick practice is from 10-11:20 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday.Admission is $10 but goalies have free entry.Helmets and gloves are required, although full equipment is recommended.Skating lessons are available in January and February, with registration through the Parks and Recreation Department.
You can rent the event center for special events, as well.
For outdoor ice skating, we like Black Mountain in Jackson.There’s a great outdoor rink at the base of the mountain next to the bar and restaurant.The Bretton Woods Mount Washington Resort also has an outdoor ice skating rink with gorgeous views of the Presidential Mountain Range.Best of all it’s free.Rental skates are available.You’ll find it on Route 302 in Bretton Woods.
There are four unique skating areas in nearby Concord: Merrill Park, Beaver Meadow Golf Course, Rollins Park and White Park.We love taking our kids skating here.

You might be surprised to learn that most teen car crashes are not due to insufficient skills or knowledge. It’s usually because of a lack of maturity or an attitude problem. Here are some tips from Tim’s Truck Capital and Auto Sales that can help you prepare your teen driver so they are less likely to experience an automobile accident.
- You are their best role model. If you want them to be a safe driver, you need to be a safe driver. That means you need to obey speed limits and demonstrate good driving habits every time you drive with them.
- Play an active role in your teen’s practice driving. For the first six months they drive, make sure you are with them. Have them drive in a wide variety of driving conditions so they can build experience and confidence.
- Don’t let them drive with teen passengers for the first few months. Teens are easily distracted, especially by other teens. Make sure they have developed solid driving skills before you allow them to drive their friends around.
- Make sure they wear their seat belt 100% of the time. Make sure you do, as well.
- Talk to them about drugs and alcohol use. Studies show that when parents talk to teens about substance abuse, teens listen! Make sure they know not to get into a car with anyone who’s been drinking or using drugs—even a family member! And let them know the consequences if they ever drive under the influence.

- Keep it safe and slow at first. Let your teen be comfortable driving in slower speed zones before you take them out on fast-moving, high volume traffic roads. You can gradually introduce them to more challenging driving situations like highway driving, major urban area and merge ramps.
- Make sure they learn how to drive in inclement weather. Ride with them as they learn how to navigate wet, icy or snowy roads.
- Limit their cell phone usage in the car. Make sure they know they should never text and drive or even talk and drive. If they need to use the phone, teach them to pull over and then talk.
- Choose a really safe vehicle for them to drive. You want to be sure the vehicle has high safety ratings and equipment like crumple zones and airbags.

Buying a Used Truck
Ask anyone who owns a pickup truck and they will happily tell you why it’s the best type of vehicle to own. If you’re thinking about buying one, and are considering buying a preowned truck, here is a great list of things to consider before you buy one, courtesy of Tim’s Truck Capital:
?Examine it in daylight. Even a well lit lot can conceal defects.
?Check each opening and body panel joint to see how it fits. Run your hand along the bottom of the doors and check for rusty, hard edges.
?If there are raised spots on the roof, there’s probably rust underneath.
?Examine each tire for signs of leakage or tread wear.
?Look at the coolant fluid. It should be greenish in color. If the fluid has rust in it, chances are the engine will overheat.
?Examine the air filter and engine and see if there is excessive dirt. If you see a large amount of oil or grease deposited on the engine, it’s hasn’t been well cared for.
?Start the engine and listen. If it knocks or thuds, it could have a bad crankshaft. If the idle doesn’t seem right, have it checked by a mechanic.
?Ask for a CarFax report to see if it’s been in a major accident.
